IK-SUPER marble mastic (akma) is an Italian two-component polyester-resin mastic for gluing, filling and repairing marble, granite and natural stone. Mixed with a small amount of hardener it sets within minutes, and once hard it can be ground and polished together with the stone. Solid grades are thixotropic (high viscosity) and do not run, so they are used to glue and repair vertical marble and other natural stones; they react well even at low temperatures and stay shiny when hardened; Liquid grades flow into fine cracks and pores. Creme and White blend with light stone; Transparent hides the joint and can be tinted to match the stone. This page is the 750 ml pack.

Where to use it

• Gluing marble and granite slabs, worktops, stair treads, skirting and cladding pieces
• Filling cracks, holes, veins and pores in marble and travertine before polishing
• Repairing chipped edges and corners of stone
• Bonding stone to concrete, ceramic and metal anchors in workshops and on site

How to apply

1. Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of dust and wax. Roughen polished faces for the best bond.
2. Take out only what you can use in a few minutes. To tint, mix in colour paste first.
3. Add 2–3% paste hardener by weight of mastic and mix energetically until the colour is even.
4. Apply with a spatula and press the pieces together. At 25 °C it gels in about 6–8 minutes in the pot; summer heat shortens this.
5. When fully hard, scrape off the excess, then grind and polish with the stone. Close the container right after use and store it away from heat and sun.

Do not put unused mixed mastic back into the tin. To change the colour, add colour paste or metal oxides before the hardener; too much colour can weaken the mastic. Keep tins closed and keep mastic and hardener away from light and sun.

FAQ

Solid or liquid mastic?
Solid is thick and does not run: use it for gluing slabs and filling on edges and vertical faces. Liquid flows into fine cracks and pores and is best on horizontal surfaces.

Creme, white or transparent?
Creme and White blend with light marble and are the economical choice. Transparent hides the joint on veined or dark stone and takes colour paste so you can match the stone.

How much hardener do I add?
A small amount, usually about 2–3% by weight; follow the hardener label. Too much makes it set too fast and can weaken it; too little leaves it sticky.

Can I use it for joints that move or outdoors around sinks and windows?
Mastic is rigid. For movement joints, sanitary joints and outdoor sealing use a flexible sealant such as ELASTOBOND hybrid or S-400 silicone.

What do people call it in Lebanon?
Usually akma or akma lal rkham (marble mastic); in Arabic أكما or معجون رخام.

كريم، أبيض أو شفاف؟
الكريم والأبيض بيمشوا مع الرخام الفاتح وأرخص. الشفاف بيخبّي الفاصل عالحجر المعرّق أو الغامق وفيك تلوّنه ليطابق الحجر.

قدّيش بحط مقوي؟
شوي، عادةً حوالي ٢–٣٪ من الوزن، حسب ورقة المقوي. إذا كتّرت بيشد بسرعة وبيضعف، وإذا قلّلت بيضل يلزّق.

بتنفع للفواصل يلي بتتحرك أو برّا حول المجالي والشبابيك؟
