SAITLAM Z is the zirconia flap disc from SAIT Abrasivi for stainless steel and hard steels, made in Italy and supplied in Lebanon by Rousse. Zirconia grain is self-sharpening, removes material fast with less heat and lasts longer than aluminium oxide.

A flap disc carries overlapping abrasive-cloth flaps on a semi-flexible backing, so it grinds and finishes in one step: it removes material like a grinding wheel but leaves a smoother finish, runs cooler and quieter, and keeps cutting as fresh grain is exposed.

Technical data

SAITLAM zirconia cloth flap discs — long life on steels, alloy steels, stainless steel and non-ferrous metals. Use with power tools is recommended. Source: SAIT General Catalogue 2026.

• SAIT flap discs come on fibreglass backing (rigid, long-lasting) or polymer backing (semi-flexible, wears down with the flaps so you can use the disc to the end).
• Never exceed the maximum speed marked on the disc.
• On special order: ceramic SAITLAM-TE / PE (top performance), filled 3A discs for cool grinding of stainless, conical shapes and 125 / 180 mm diameters.

Safety

Use on an angle grinder with the guard fitted, never exceed the maximum speed marked on the disc, work at a shallow angle (about 5–15°) and wear eye, hand and hearing protection.

FAQ

Flap disc or grinding wheel?
A grinding wheel removes material fast but leaves a rough surface. A flap disc removes material and finishes at the same time, with less heat, vibration and noise, so you often save a finishing step.

Why zirconia for stainless steel?
Zirconia is tougher and self-sharpening, so it cuts cooler and faster on stainless and hard steels and helps avoid heat discolouration.

What do people call it in Lebanon?
Usually disc mdala3 or wara2 mdala3 (ديسك مضلع); also flap disc.
