SAITLAM WIND is a special flap disc for stainless steel (inox) from SAIT Abrasivi, made in Italy and supplied in Lebanon by Rousse. It is SAIT’s special line for stainless steel, chosen when a cooler cut and a clean finish on inox matter.

A flap disc carries overlapping abrasive-cloth flaps on a semi-flexible backing, so it grinds and finishes in one step: it removes material like a grinding wheel but leaves a smoother finish, runs cooler and quieter, and keeps cutting as fresh grain is exposed.

Applications

• Grinding and blending welds on stainless steel without overheating
• Finishing stainless rails, sinks, tanks and food equipment
• Work on thin stainless sheet where heat discolouration must be avoided

Technical data

SAITLAM zirconia flap discs; the M14 version (SAITLAM-W) has a polymer backing with a built-in M14 hub that screws straight onto the grinder — no flange or nut needed. Source: SAIT General Catalogue 2026.

• SAIT flap discs come on fibreglass backing (rigid, long-lasting) or polymer backing (semi-flexible, wears down with the flaps so you can use the disc to the end).
• Never exceed the maximum speed marked on the disc.
• On special order: ceramic SAITLAM-TE / PE (top performance), filled 3A discs for cool grinding of stainless, conical shapes and 125 / 180 mm diameters.

Safety

Use on an angle grinder with the guard fitted, never exceed the maximum speed marked on the disc, work at a shallow angle (about 5–15°) and wear eye, hand and hearing protection.

FAQ

Flap disc or grinding wheel?
A grinding wheel removes material fast but leaves a rough surface. A flap disc removes material and finishes at the same time, with less heat, vibration and noise, so you often save a finishing step.

When should I choose WIND?
When heat is the problem: thin stainless sheet, visible welds and parts that must not discolour. For general stainless work the standard SAITLAM Z is the economical choice.

What do people call it in Lebanon?
Usually disc mdala3 or wara2 mdala3 (ديسك مضلع); also flap disc.

حجر الجلخ بيشيل بسرعة بس بيترك السطح خشن. الديسك المضلع بيشيل وبينعّم بنفس الوقت، بحرارة وهزّة وصوت أقل، فبتوفّر مرحلة تنعيم.
