PLANET ONE is the value flap disc range from SAIT Abrasivi, supplied in Lebanon by Rousse: a semi-flexible 115 mm flap disc in zirconia for stainless and hard steels, and in aluminium oxide for steel and wood, for everyday workshop and site use.

A flap disc carries overlapping abrasive-cloth flaps on a semi-flexible backing, so it grinds and finishes in one step: it removes material like a grinding wheel but leaves a smoother finish, runs cooler and quieter, and keeps cutting as fresh grain is exposed.

Applications

• Everyday grinding and blending of welds
• Stainless steel (zirconia) and mild steel or wood (aluminium oxide)
• Deburring, rust removal and surface preparation

Technical data

• SAIT flap discs come on fibreglass backing (rigid, long-lasting) or polymer backing (semi-flexible, wears down with the flaps so you can use the disc to the end).
• Never exceed the maximum speed marked on the disc.
• On special order: ceramic SAITLAM-TE / PE (top performance), filled 3A discs for cool grinding of stainless, conical shapes and 125 / 180 mm diameters.

Safety

Use on an angle grinder with the guard fitted, never exceed the maximum speed marked on the disc, work at a shallow angle (about 5–15°) and wear eye, hand and hearing protection.

FAQ

Flap disc or grinding wheel?
A grinding wheel removes material fast but leaves a rough surface. A flap disc removes material and finishes at the same time, with less heat, vibration and noise, so you often save a finishing step.

PLANET ONE is the economical everyday line; SAITLAM Z and WIND are the professional lines for longer life and cooler cutting on stainless steel.

What do people call it in Lebanon?
Usually disc mdala3 or wara2 mdala3 (ديسك مضلع); also flap disc.
