Technical data

From the SAIT General Catalogue 2026. All SAIT resin-bonded wheels are fibreglass-reinforced (BF) and rated for a maximum peripheral speed of 80 m/s on portable machines.

How to read the spec (e.g. A 30 P): the letter is the abrasive grain (A = aluminium oxide, C = silicon carbide, Z/ZA = zirconia, S = ceramic), the number is the average grit size (lower = coarser, faster removal) and the last letter is the bond hardness (later in the alphabet = harder, longer-lasting wheel).

• Flat wheels (type 41) are for cutting only; depressed-centre grinding wheels (type 27) are for grinding. Never grind with a cutting wheel.
• Thin 230 mm flat cutting wheels must be mounted with the proper flanges.
• Wheels of 300 mm and above are for fixed machines (chop saws) only, never hand-held.
• Store at 15–30 °C and 45–75 % relative humidity; check the wheel for damage and the expiry date on the metal bushing before mounting.

FAQ

Thin or thick disc?
Thin discs (1.0–1.6 mm) cut faster and cooler with less burr; 3 mm discs are sturdier for heavy cutting. Never grind with the side of a cutting disc.

Can I grind with a cutting disc?
No. Use a grinding disc (6 mm, depressed centre) for grinding; cutting discs are only for straight cuts.

What do people call it in Lebanon?
Usually disc a2es blat (ديسك قص بلاط).
